Concrete that works for a living
Commercial concrete is a different job from a house driveway. The loads are heavier, the programme is tighter, there are other trades on site, and the surface has to keep working through years of forklifts, trucks and weather. We do it the way it needs doing: to the engineer's detail where there is one, to the site manager's programme, and with the crew and the gear to pour and finish a large area in the window the concrete allows.
Slabs and floors
Floor slabs for workshops, sheds, warehouses and commercial buildings, poured on a compacted base with the reinforcing, thickness and joints the design calls for. Level, flat and finished to suit what goes on top - a machine-trowelled floor for a workshop, a broom finish where it will be outside.
Hardstands and yards
Yards, loading areas, container pads and truck hardstands. These take the heaviest and most concentrated loads on any site, so the base preparation and the slab design matter more here than anywhere. We will tell you straight if what is being asked for is not going to stand up to the traffic.
Car parks and access
Car parks, accessways, crossings, drainage channels and kerbs. We set out for the fall and the drainage first, so water goes where it should rather than pooling by the front door.
Paths, ramps and site works
Footpaths, accessible ramps, plinths, pads for plant and equipment, retaining and the general concrete site works that a commercial build or a council project generates. The sort of job where turning up when you said you would is most of what the client wants.
Working in with your programme
- We fit the site, not the other way round. Pours are scheduled around the other trades and the access, and if the programme moves, we move with it.
- Site safety is part of the job. Inductions, exclusion zones and a tidy site are how we work, not an extra.
- The whole scope from one crew. Excavation, base, drainage, boxing, reinforcing, pour and finish. Fewer subcontractors on the site and one point of contact.
- Residential too. If the commercial job comes with a house on the same property, the residential concrete can go in the same quote.

Commercial Concrete Questions
Do you work from engineered drawings?
Yes. Where a slab has been designed by an engineer we pour it to that detail - the thickness, the reinforcing, the joint layout and the mix. Where there is no design and the job needs one, we will say so rather than guess.
How far will you travel for a commercial job?
We are based in Hastings and regularly work through Hawke's Bay, the Manawatū, Horowhenua and the Kāpiti Coast. For a commercial job of any size that whole area is in range, and further is worth a conversation.
Can you pour outside normal hours?
Where a site needs an early start, a weekend pour or work around an operating business, we can usually plan for it. Tell us the constraints when you ask for the quote and we will build the programme around them.
